The History of Gary Pitt and Company |
|
|
|
|
|
The company was started by the current
owner and managing director who grew up in a family
of electricians. He went on many jobs whilst at school
with his grandfather who was a master tradesman and
electrician. On leaving school he immediately started
his apprenticeship and qualified at the top of his year
group in 1978. He then put in several years practical
work for his grandfather and other electricians before
deciding to start his own company.

He went out on his own in January 1984 and
slowly started using his contacts to get more and more
work. As the work came in he started to employ staff and
Max was one of his first employees, who many years later
is still a much respected part of the company known by
most of our customers as he is such a great character,
one of the senior electricians and team leaders. The company
is built on loyalty to staff, customers and suppliers
and all our senior staff have spent many years with the
company, and we have retained 90% of customers over the
years and have a few elite suppliers that look after most
of our requirements. |

The company grew slowly at first
but got to a significant size that Gary took a more
managerial role and created the limited company in 2003.
Although he now delegates most of the work through the
team of experienced electricians, improvers and apprentices,
he regularly employs his skills on site and imparts
his wealth of knowledge to the whole team.

The company is now a small enterprise employing
20 people on a full time basis and up to 20 others as
the work demands. We have completed several contracts
as main contractors and subcontractors in schools, hospitals,
hotels, public buildings and large developments. We have
huge experience of work with housing associations, builders,
and commerce developing their commercial properties all
over the UK. |

We now would like to fully utilise all
the skills available to us and grow the business steadily
. We plan to invest in more training, upgrade our IT,
to develop our sales departments and to tender for more
public sector contracts. |
